AKC Tricks

We welcome ANYONE with any breed of dog who wants to learn tricks for fun, or as part of therapy or helper dog training.  However, this class is primarily intended to prepare handlers for the Novice level of the new AKC Tricks Titling program being offered through the CGC division, which officially launches May1.   When the course is complete, those who feel ready can be evaluated for the AKC Novice Trick (TRKN) title by the instructor or another CGC Evaluator (dog applying for the title must have an AKC number – full registration, PAL, or Canine Partner).  For more information about the title: http://www.akc.org/trick-dog/

Because this is an “all positive” class and many tricks must be taught via shaping, the class will be taught with clickers.  Handlers should bring a clicker and lots of tiny treats to class.  Complete class form and bring first night of class.

Recommended dog age: none
Length: 6 weeks
Prerequisite: Puppy, Manners, or Basic Obedience class or equivalent, or CGC certification/title
