POTC offers a comprehensive training program for all levels of dogs. Note that some ages are recommended and others are required. Since no two dogs are alike, the recommended age is simply a guideline.
Not all classes listed below are offered year round.

Public Classes
Puppy
This course is designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start! Emphasis is placed on responsible pet ownership including proper puppy care and safety concerns. Building confidence, core skills, and basic commands are introduced. Help is also given with house training, grooming, chewing issues & other household concerns.
Recommended dog age: 10 weeks – 6 months (following all required puppy vaccination schedule – rabies not required if puppy is too young)

Manners
This entry level class is designed to help handlers train their dogs to develop good manners at home and in the community. It is recommended as a follow-up for those just completing puppy class or ANY dog who has never had group training. Obedience 1
This class is the foundation on which all advanced training builds and reinforces skills learned in Manners Class with emphasis on greater duration, distance and distraction. Building a strong bond with your dog as well more attention to handler skills is a primary focus. Successful completion of this course is required before advancing to the Obedience 2 Class. Required dog age: 6 months and older
Length: 8 weeks
Prerequisite: Dog must have successfully completed Manners Class OR dog must show proficiency in each manners class skill (focus, loose leash walking, sit, sit stay, down, come (recall), door/threshold manners, canine social skills, human social skills).

Obedience 2
This class is the foundation on which all advanced training builds and reinforces skills learned in Obedience 1 with emphasis on greater duration, distance and distraction. Building a strong bond with your dog as well more attention to handler skills is a primary focus. Successful completion of this course is required before progressing to advanced level classes. Required Dog Age: 6 months and older

Prerequisite: Dog must have successfully completed Obedience 1 OR dog must
show proficiency in each Obedience 1 class skill (focus, loose leash heeling, sit or stand for exam, down stay, recall with sit in front, sit stay from 15 feet).

Beginner Agility Class
Agility is an energetic and popular sport for dog and handler. While in the ring, both will run full speed while performing over A-Frames, Dog Walks, See-Saws, Tunnels and Jumps. Prerequisite: Beginner Obedience & Pre-registration Required!

Intermediate Agility Class
This course is for the dog that has completed beginner agility. It builds on the skills previously taught. The handler also learns teamwork, sequencing and handling skills. Email webmaster@potcdogs.com for information and registry.

Conformation
Dog shows, or “conformation” events concentrate on the distinctive features of purebred dogs. These shows give an opportunity to display each breed in their true form. POTC is offering classes for individuals interested in presenting their dogs at AKC or UKC conformation shows.
